Valentine Love - How Do You Celebrate?

1/29/2016

Picture

February is my second favorite month, right after Christmas. And Valentine's Day is a big part of why I like this month. It's a good reminder that we have people in our lives to love. How do you show the love? What fun thing do you like to do to celebrate Valentine's Day? Share it here and we might pick you to receive this fun little goody package pictured above. We'll choose a winner on Feb 13th so we can make someone's Valentine's Day just a little more special. Little Sheila will be at the beach, but if technology cooperates we'll make the announcement on the 14th. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I like to make a 'fancy' dinner at home and watch a movie! A date night in!

I try to be nice every day by smiling and greeting everyone I see and paying it forward every chance I get. I also send Valentine's Day cards out to all of my friends who are alone. Since I'm disabled, I only go out once a week for groceries and Valentine's is not important to me but, being nice and considerate is very important. I wish you and all the Sheila's Place members a wonderful Valentine's day full of love.

I don't have anyone to share it with except my cats and now I have 2 kittens to make my home a little more livelier. I will pick up some chocolates.

On V day we like to reminisce about the first meet. And on a side note, I am pretty sure I'd forgo chocolate to go to a booksigning with you AND Kate Breslin!!! Wow!!! I pray it's over the top fun and successful.

I make a special effort to curb my attitude. My hubby & I usually go to our favorite Chinese place to celebrate; if we can't do that, we cook something that we love but don't usually eat, & then watch a good movie!

I just like sharing it with family and spreading the love. I might do something different this year. If possible, I might try to share some love with others.

We don't always do anything special. But I informed him I never wanted to spend another Valentine's Day like we did last year, he'd been sick and too stubborn to go see a Dr., so we ended up in the Emergency Department on Valentines Day, and he subsequently spent the rest of February in the hospital. However, he did point out that he took me out, lol.

I like to help the homeless, or someone in need. I will assist them in finding the right organization to meet their needs, both physically, & spiritualy/emotionally. There are so many people who have nothing, or no one, & if I can do something to improve their life, I'm going to grab the opportunity to do so. It is such a Blessing to be a vessel for God's work. I may not have a lot of money, drive a fancy car, or live in a big house, but I am rich beyond anything this world can provide me with.

Usually just a nice quiet night at home. It's nice to reflect on those we love---not only those that are still with us, but those loved ones that have already passed on, leaving happy memories and love in our hearts forever. I've always preferred calling it, "I Love You Forever Day."

i am not usually a gift giver, my closest friends know that a Merry Christmas is all that their going to get. Maybe get a card, but thats it. But on valentines, since i don't have a date, or relationship, i try to make my friends feel better about being single. Valentines dsy is the only day i give gifts. This year i'm planning on giving cookies to everyone. Happy Valentines day!!

Since my husband is a fancy-schmanzy restaurant manager, he has worked every single Valentines's Day for the past 30 years. Watching AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER and waiting up for Dan to come home has become a cherished annual tradition for me!

Valentine's Day seems to have been every day, ever since my husband of now almost 7 years came into my life. As he is my biggest gift in my life, I don't need any Valentine's gifts from him. We have "Date Night" at home with a specially created dinner and table decoration. No dressing up, driving, or dinner rush at a restaurant for us. Just being cozy and comfy ...

My husband and I always go out to a really nice restaurant and order a nice bottle of champagne! This will be our 45th Valentines Day together! Wow! The time flew by in a blink of an eye! It's also my granddaughter Santina's birthday and grandma makes her a heart shaped cake!

Eight years ago hubby endured a bout with cancer. To bring a little silliness to his days I made 14 corny valentines using candy & treats( ex:after all this time I'm still nuts about you--with a bag of his favorite nuts). I would place one in his chair before I went the bed the first 14 days of February. He is an early riser, so he would be up & enjoying them before I opened my eyes. I tiptoed out early one morning just to see his reaction. The laughter I heard & grin on his face was priceless. He got such a kick out of it--I have continued the 14 days of valentines ever since. I am about to run out of corny ideas. He always brings me a bouquet of flowers & picks up a meal & we watch a silly movie. I have tiptoed to the living room early many February mornings just to catch his laughter & see his grin from ear to ear.

My husband Tony and I usually have dinner at home because we do not like fighting the crowds. He is an awesome cook and loves to cook for me. He makes a special dinner and then we watch a movie. We enjoy each others company and have for over thirty five years!

I like to send out the grade school exchange Valentines to my co-workers. But this year, I think having the National Half Priced Chocolate Day on February 15th will be nice.

I leave a note each year for my husband that promises to buy him an ice cream treat at WDW when we go - and we go every year - we eat ice cream and stroll the area we are in enjoying our alone time - he always gives the note back to me that evening -- our story

I always bake hubby a strawberry cake and heart shaped sugar cookies. This year I asked him to get me books instead of the chocolates and flowers. I would rather be surprised on a day I wasn't expecting that than when I was.

Bob and I usually celebrate by going to dinner, and we get each other mushy cards. Lol We always watch Hallmark, HMM, INSP and UP for movie specials. So we'll probably do that again this year. I love my DVR!! But it's pretty low key for us. I'm allergic to flowers, so he doesn't bring me flowers anymore. :) He will normally get me chocolate of some kind. But he told me the other day that I won't be getting my chocolate until Monday the 15th, being its on sale then. I am not a big big Valentine's Day person as I love Bob that much every day, and he loves me that much every day! I'm not someone who needs special attention. And I don't wear jewelry, so he can't buy me that either. But we do little things for each other all year long...so it's pretty much Valentine's Day all year long for us!!

I spend the day with my beautiful Baby Girl kitty. She snuggles and purrs. I will probably give her a treat. As for me, I go to the cafe and have lunch. (When I lived in Omaha, my girlfriend and I went to Outback for Blooming Onion and steak dinner.)

We attend a fundraiser for the North Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. It is a very worthwhile charity, helping boys and girls who are in need of guidance - both spiritual and for daily living. They house and educate many young people who are struggling in their personal lives. Check out their website www.dakotaranch.org and learn about the wonderful work they do.

My husband and I exchange cards and maybe a little present. We have been married for 36 years so we don't do Valentine's like we used to. Being that it's a Sunday, we will probably spend the day at home relaxing and catching up on our TV shows.

I just love to make heart shapes things for my sons and grandchildren, My husband and I then find a small quiet place to have a special lunch. Then a quiet evening with a bowl of popcorn and a good movie. Often this is just a dream however because life likes to have it's own way.

We try to survive. Valentine's day is always during crazy time I have my regular job and I work for my mother's tax office. My husband works and the kids, needless to say we are both stressed and tired but together. Hopefully this year we won't be eating pizza and trying to fix the oil burner. My dream valentine's day would be no kids a bubble bath a book and sleep.
