The funnest thing our family has done for the summer has gone to San Diego for a couple of weeks. Living here in dry Arizona, we head to the beach as soon as it gets too hot here. That means 112 degrees or more.

I'd have to say the best and most amusing vacation we ever took was to Niagra Falls, Canadian side. It was absolutely breath taking, we all looked like bananas wearing the yellow raincoats on the Voyage of the Mist boat tour below the falls...

I'm excited to be going on a pre-class reunion Alaskan cruise, leaving Seattle July 30th. Since money is a little tight (I'm one of those old ladies on Social Security) I've held several garage sales this summer, to raise some spending money. The last over the 4th of July weekend. Also bought 2 "new" blouses & a purse for the cruise. All from local Goodwill stores. The last blouse really is new. Still had Bon Marche tags with a $40 price, Goodwill price was $16.99 but it had a red tag & all red tags were 50% off so I got it for $8.50. I think the purse may be nearly new also~it shows no sign of wear & it was $5.99. I'm not getting any more clothes, those people have never seen my stuff so I think I'm good to go & there are no huge credit card bills to deal with after I get home. Alaska here I come!!

Hubby and I both attended the same high school and we have been contacting friends we knew in high school and getting together with them at a restaurant convenient to both and sharing old times. It is great fun to learn what our friends are doing now, if they have children, laughing about things that happened in school. Friends are happy to know that we remember them and appreciate our gesture. We even drive out of town for these gettogethers if the trip isn't too far. Not everyone enjoys large reunions, but they love these more-personal meetings. So do we. We've also learned some great new restaurants.

One of my funnest little vacations was going to the Wine Country/ Napa-Sonoma , Calif. It was fun visiting some of the wineries and getting free samples. We found some very good restaurants in the area. A fun time.

My family and extended family rented a three-bedroom place on the water at the beach not far from home. Being close, it meant that other friends and family could come for the day. We fished and took boat rides or sat by the pool and read, cooked sometimes, but also went out to beach restaurants, shopped and had a great time being "tourists in our own area." It was fun, relaxing and an opportunity to actually spend quality time with family and friends.
