A CHARMED CHRISTMAS PRESENT

9/28/2020

Picture
IT'S TIME to celebrate the release of a new book, so of course, we have to have a little contest here at Sheila's Place. I'm happy to announce that my novel One Charmed Christmas is a Target Recommends selection. How cool is that? This novel was written back when cruising wasn't hazardous to your health. I'm hoping once we lick COVID our cruise lines will be back in action again and we'll be able to enjoy those romantic and exciting adventures once more. Meanwhile, though, you can take a virtual cruise with One Charmed Christmas.
Sooo, keeping with the theme of romantic adventures, share your idea of the perfect getaway here. Who knows? That may be to Tahiti or to the backyard with a hammock and a good book. Or maybe, like me, you're hoping to see more of the world from the deck of a ship. Post it here. We have a sweet, little expandable charm bracelet for some lucky winner and a duo of Debbie Macomber (The Christmas Basket) and Sheila Roberts (Merry Ex-Mas) classics.
We'll draw a name and post the winner here November 15th. That way we have time to track you down and get your goodies off to you and you'll be able to wear your charm bracelet for the holidays and enjoy a fun read. Sooo, check back here to see if you won.
Winners have one week to respond when we email before we move on to another name, so check your spam!

I am so eager to go back to Sete in France. It’s a very unique, vibrant, and romantic island where fresh fish and oysters are in abundance! Sete has a French and Italian culture mix that is truly different than anywhere else in the world.

Right now, I miss traveling so much, any place sounds fabulous, but an old city sounds really appealing. Snow, cobbled streets, glowing windows.

We have a beach house in Wrightsville Beach, NC that is my favorite place in the world to decompress, read, go shelling and open my heart to my mother's spirit which always surrounds me when I'm there. Other places to go and see are wonderful, and I enjoy travelling, but if I were to pick ONE place where I could go whenever I wanted, this would be the place! After we get this COVID thing under control that is the first place I will go!

My perfect getaway would be San Francisco as I have family all over the bay area that i have seen for many years. I am battling RSD and have for years so now it is throughout my body and has crippled my hand. So it is hard for me to do things like flying by myself but now hubby goes with me we were going to go this year but the virus shut us down. We have a new granddaughter who was born late last year we haven't seen and I have 2 grandkids who live in different parts of Ca that I haven't seen for many years. So I would love to see the ocean and all my family at once. Also my getaway would include a few days with each as I talk to them on the phone but we don't have zoom here in rural Iowa so I can't see them. I love SF it was my favorite place to go when I lived in Ca for 49 years every Friday we would go and walk around the wharf and see the seals at the pier and of course have my favorite crab cocktail. Plus taking one of my grandkids who is 18 and she works in SF would be a treat as she is so funny.

I have visited a lot of places in the world and still my favorite is the Isle of Capri. It is unique in its scenery, the flora and fauna of the island and the warm hearted people who enjoy serving you food every time you turn around. My idea of a perfect romantic getaway would be to rent a beautiful log cabin in the Alaskan wilderness. Just me and my significant other. We would have a roaring fire to enjoy. Just him and I exploring around the cabin during the day. In the evenings sitting around the cozy fire. Not hoping for a lot of snow, but enough to traipse around in it. Taking lots of pictures. I just love those big cabins you see on TV. I'm ready to go.

We moved to New Mexico in December. We changed our lifestyle and climate. What I like the most is that we are now within driving distance to our kids and grandbabies. I look forward to the day we can visit Phoenix and then on to San Diego. I miss seeing them, I also miss the ocean, it's sounds and smell and the expanse of all the water. We are truly lucky to be surrounded by mountains, my other wonder of the world that I love.

I have always, always wanted to go to the British Isles and visit every English nook and cranny , then onto Ireland to visit the pubs to learn every little ditty, and the to Scotland to visit absolutely EVERYTHING. Ny husband's family comes from scotland and he even has his tartan but I want to live all of the romances I have read and loved. My husband and I are old now with many medical problems so I will continue "touring" everywhere with all of the books I read. My biggest wish is that you all keep writing because I will always be touring the world and centuries through all of your books.

My perfect getaway is going to an all inclusive resort for a week down in Mexico. My husband and I try to go every October since it's the slow season. We were supposed to go this year, but because of Covid that did not happen.

Instead we bought a couple bottles of wine, some fancy cheese, meats, and chocolates and had a wine tasting while we caught up on Schitt's Creek and then the next day made some chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and spent the rest of the day reading in bed and noshing on the leftover cheese, meat, and chocolates.

There's always ways to find the best of a situation. ;)

My perfect getaway would be Scotland the land that Sir Sean Connery loved. Walking the rolling hils wrapped in a Shetland sweater would be peaceful with the lilting sound of bagpipes on the bearby shore. Maybe I would catch a glimpse of Nessie in her magnificent mysteriousnes!

At this point I’d love to go anywhere quiet, peaceful and not our HOME with my hubby! He’s military and returned from deployment last year. This year was supposed to be calm and relaxing - plus we had planned a honeymoon we didn’t get to take before he deployed. Covid had other plans though lol!

Time to visit my family & enjoy time with my husband while touring the great country of Germany & all the beautiful sites it has to offer. I would enjoy seeing the castle, Black Forest, Rhine River, etc. I would, of course, need a tote full of Sheila Roberts & Debbie Macomber books to fulfill my greatest ideal ever.

We made friends on a trip to France. They live on the west coast and we live on the east coast. My getaway wish is to visit them or meet somewhere to spend time together. A Columbia River cruise, a Mississippi River cruise or a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains or somewhere 1/2 between us. Pure bliss to talk face to face.

My idea of a romantic getaway is anywhere I am with my husband. We have had sometime at a lake house overlooking Lake Michigan in October. We were able to walk the beach in the morning and see snow in the afternoon.

Another idea of a great getaway would be in a mountain cabin getaway with a small stream.

My idea of a perfect getaway would be to have a really cute class B Sprinter van, and to hit the road w/my hubby of 32 years. We live in CO, which is lovely, but would love to do an extended road trip w/him from San Diego, CA in the south to Seattle, WA in the north! We have friends and family all along the way. Would be such fun to have our own little caravan, driving and stopping whenever we want. I'm dreaming and hoping this dream will be a reality someday.

As a single Mom, I could never afford a family vacation. My children are adults now and have blessed me with beautiful grandchildren. I would love for my entire family to go on an Alaskan cruise. I would love to rent a large cabin in the woods and have our children and their families join us for the Christmas to New Year time frame. Ideally it would be in the Northeast. We could go sledding, walking in the woods, skiing if anyone wanted to try it, snowball fights, build snow forts and snowmen, evenings by the fire with hot drinks, board games, puzzles, and reading. The other option would be my husband and I would head to Costa Rica and spend a few weeks exploring the country and staying at some really nice resorts.
