![]() The neighborhood "Something for Nothing" gang was at it again yesterday, trading treasures at my house. Of course, we started with breakfast where I served my Danish Puff pastry and cantaloupe. The pastry was great. The cantaloupe tasted like old gym shoes. Yuck! But a good time was had by all. Many of us got our closets cleaned out. I got rid of a bunch of old cookbooks I haven't opened since I bought them. (I really do need to break my cookbook addiction.) Others of us found new treasures. I got some very cool brand new goodies for gift baskets and I even came away with a couple of baskets to put the goodies in. Needless to say I was excited. My buddy Liz took the leftovers for her church's upcoming garage sale so I didn't even have to cart the leftovers to Goodwill. If you have some closets in need of cleaning why not get together with some of your friends and do some swapping? It's easy enough - just take numbers and take turns picking out treasures. Or, if you're as polite as our bunch is, just dig in. You can donate what's left to your favorite charity thrift store. And who knows what you might come away with? One woman's junk is another woman's treasure!

Oh we had so much fun! And i really didnt notice that the cantaloupe was stinky..what does that even say about me??? Thanks Shiela for another fun day, and yummy pastries. All you ladies out there, this the best group to start. We have a great time, and sometimes we trade specific things, like jewelry only or we open it up to EVERYTHING.. Which is great. I came home with a beautiful windchime, a couple of Sheilas old cookbooks, and even some jewelry.. It was so much fun!! Next one should be at my House!!

I just moved at the end of February. I was amazed at the amount of “things” that I got rid of. I kept asking why I was hanging on to some of stuff. Luckily, a co-worker’s daughter belongs to FFA, they were having a rummage sale. I had no qualms about giving away anything I didn’t want to move. In fact, as I was unpacking, I found items I wished I had never moved that can still be donated.

Great idea ladies! We have a local theater group who have a Clothing and Accessory Swap each year to raise money. It is a great fundraiser because people can bring items to donate and shop for free or simply pay a fee to shop. Whatever is left is donated to a local thrift store. They also receive additional monetary donations throughout the event.
