How about a fun holiday read plus a chance to win a $50 Macy's gift card? All you have to do is go online and pre-order a copy of "Merry Ex-mas." Then email proof of purchase (attach scanned receipt, iPhone or camera pic, etc.) to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll draw a winner from Sheila's hat. Feel free to buy more than one "Sheila" book --- we'll put your name in the hat for each book purchased. In addition to the gift card we'll also throw in a copy of "On Strike for Christmas" (which is also available for purchase this year) to get you in a holiday mood. Contest runs from now until October 29th and we'll announce our winner on November 1st.
BEVERLY. Congrats to you, Beverly. Thanks to everyone else who shared. What an amazing bunch of mothers! I was inspired reading all of your comments.
This is the month we celebrate motherhood. I've got to tell you, I have a lot to celebrate. My mom was an amazing woman. In addition to raising a family she was active in her community and even wrote a weekly column for our community newspaper. Clever, creative, caring, godly and oh, so cute, she made my life fun growing up and was my best friend. Even though she was an older mother when she had me (my brothers were teenagers when I was born) she always had plenty of energy to keep up, and when I was a teenager having parties she and my dad were right there in the thick of it, enjoying the fun and games. And my friends loved it! When I was sick or feeling down, when the kids were driving me nuts, she was always there to listen. When I needed advice, she had it. (And sometimes she had advice when I didn't want it, too!) She never lost her zest for life. (I think she was eighty when I dragged her to a slumber party at my church. In her Betty Boop nightshirt she was the hit of the party and she stayed up all night yakking and playing games with us!)
But that's enough about my mom. Now I want to hear about yours!
Tell me a little about your mom (25 words or less) and at the end of the month we'll have a drawing and give one lucky a winner a $25 Starbucks gift card. Contest ends May 30th.
Congrats to Cecilia who won our Get Your Game on contest! As always, I wish I could give everyone who posted a prize! But we'll have a new contest up later today for Mother's Day, so if you didn't win thi
Sheila's new novel, WHAT SHE WANTS, is out, so, to celebrate we're having a contest. Just tell us who your favorite hero in the book is and what you like about him. We'll everyone's name in the hat and some lucky winner will be playing chick poker come May. Contest ends April 28th. We'll annou
Marla, who won our Valentine contest. Thanks everyone for sharing your fun plans for Cupid's big day. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's day.
It's been way too long since we've had a contest on the website. So, one and all, how about sharing your idea of a romantic Valentine's Day. (Keep it PG please.) We'll pick a lucky winner and send her/him this fun little Valentine goody package consisting of a cinnamon scented candle, a Seattle's Best chocolate bar, and a rose lollipop. We'll run this until the 7th of February and announce our winner on the 8th. And maybe, if you're lucky, your goodies will arrive in time for the big day. (Or, if they don't, it will just extend the fun, right?) So... what are you planning (or hoping) to do on the big day of romance? (By the way, if you submit a really cool answer it might just make it into my February newsletter!)
Congrats to Jennifer Schneider, who won the drawing for our chocolate goody package. I so enjoyed reading all your comments and I wish I had a prize for all of you. We'll have more contests in the future so be sure to check back. Chocolate forever!
It's time to celebrate Sheila's new book, BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE, with a new contest. Tell us what your favorite chocolate treat is. (I'm gonna tell you right now, for me it's a toss up between chocolate mint pie and chocolate dipped strawberries. But I'm also wild about all the recipes I included in the book!) We'll put your name in the hat and pick a winner October 31st. So, what will you win? A chocolate goody package including a chocolate scented candle and some chocolate mint tea. (And of course, candy!) No picture of your prize yet because we're still working on it but I promise you'll like it! And I think I can safely promise you'll like the new book, too, so I hope you'll get a copy. Happy reading!
Robin, who is currently two states away serving Lebanese food to her mother. All the entries were lovely, and as always, it was hard to choose. Wish we could give prizes to all of you.
Wishing you all a wonderful Mother's Day!
