Back in the day when clothes were hung outside to dry, and some of them had to be ironed (gasp) I called my mom and asked if she would drop off one of my sisters to entertain my 4 kids long enough so that I could catch up on my ironing. My laundry basket was overflowing with ironing that need to be done, and hearing that, she gave me this tidbit of wisdom....get another laundry basket! Gotta love a mom who tells you that! My mother's standard line whenever I left the house or faced some sort of challenge was "Remember who you are." Encompassed in those four words were our family values, what I learned at church, what I respected about my grandparents, the lessons of my ancestors, my Southern heritage, and, most importantly, my intelligence and sense of self-worth. It's not surprising I say the same to my two kids! JOYE 05/02/2011 11:17am

My mom always said to remember to wear clean underwear because you never know what will happen....then one day in grade school I was knocked down and you guessed it...my dress flew up....I was embarrassed but hey...I had on my clean undies. Mary 05/03/2011 12:52pm

When I was young, my mama always reminded me to focus on my studies."Study hard, try your very best and pray to God to finish your studies for you to be able to fulfill your dreams." Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply |
